"Named" Scholarship:  

A donation is given annually and the recipient may need to meet a certain criteria specified by the contributor. Memorial Scholarships may also be described as a "Named" Scholarship.  H-M-B seniors of the current school year are eligible. A completed application must be submitted.
 

 
CARI BAILEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Cari Bailey Memorial Scholarship was established in 1999.  Cari was the daughter of Bruce and Laurie Bailey and sister of Erin and Beau Bailey of Moffit, ND. Cari was a 1997 graduate from H-M-B School. She was attending Bismarck State College with a scholarship to Med Center One School of Nursing. Cari worked at Med Center One and on her way home from work on February 2, 1999 she was killed by a drunk driver.

CLASS OF 2009 SCHOLARSHIP

The Class of 2009 scholarship was established in 2011. The Class of 2009 has generously donated their class funds in order to reward an H-M-B senior with a scholarship. They have decided to give out one scholarship each year for three years.

JODI JAHNER-MOSSET MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Jodi Jahner-Mosset of Linton, ND, died of complications, due to Cystic Fibrosis, on September 6, 1999. Jodi was 33 years old. Jodi had such an impact on everyone she met, especially her classmates. Jodi's classmates, (Linton's graduating class of 1984) organize and execute an annual golf tournament in her name, held at Linton's Golf Course on the 2nd Saturday in June. Proceeds from the tournament go toward awarding the Jodi Jahner-Mosset Memorial Scholarship, which is presented annually to students at Linton and Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock High Schools, and the Emmons County Sports Alumni Association Scholarship, which is awarded annually to alumni of Strasburg High School.

The recipient of the scholarship along with our two freshman student representatives and two board members help set up, serve food and clean up at the Jodi Jahner-Mosset Golf Tournament as a thank you for contributing to the scholarship funds for H-M-B students.

MARY LANE OF MOFFIT SCHOLARSHIP

Mary Lane was an elementary teacher prior to her marriage to Bill Lane. Mary and Bill raised cattle and farmed in rural Moffit where Mary continues to live. Mary is very active in the United Methodist Church and in previous years was very active in the legislature and Farmer's Union. She continues to keep up-to-date on legislative issues, paying special attention to education. Mary is a strong believer in Christianity, education, and the future of our country.

Mary pays special attention to our H-M-B youth and their activities and accomplishments. She provides a scholarship to help alleviate some of the financial pressure on our students as they enter secondary education.

EDWARD VETSCH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Edward Vetsch scholarship was established in 2011. Edward Vetsch was born southeast of Linton on February 22, 1922. Edward served in the United States Army from 1942 through 1946 and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his bravery during the European Theater (World War II). Edward died on October 5, 2010.

This scholarship is given in honor of Ed's strong faith, love of farming, and work ethics that he shared with his family and community.

GERIT WENTZ MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Gerit Wentz scholarship was established in 1994 when he died in a car accident on December 1, 1993, at the age of 20. Gerit was the son of the Delores and the late Gordon Wentz and the brother to Grant and Galyn. Gerit was attending Dickinson College at the time of his death. Scholarships were given out from 1994-1997.
